Once you have found your apartment, it is very important to register your child in school. You can register them online through the school board that services your neighbourhood. It is recommended to only submit one time the registration form to avoid any delays. Before registering your child online, ensure you have access to a cellphone with camera or to a scanner, since you will need digital forms of the following documents to complete the registration:
- Immigration document IMM1442 of children and parents (Brown Paper)
- Birth certificate of the child (with official translation in English or French) Only CSSDM accepts translations from SIARI.
- One proof of residency/address (lease, bill, welfare slip, etc.)
- Latest report card of the child (if possible)
Once you complete the online registration, you will be given an appointment to come in person to have your child assessed based on their educational and language level. At the meeting, both you and your children must be present with all the original documents submitted in the registration.
NOTE: If you have not received the brown paper yet, you can still register your child for school. You can call the school board directly and explain your situation. If you have further issues, you may contact le protecteur de l’élève
